Tampa, FL - The Florida Atlantic Men's Golf team started its third tournament of the spring season on Friday. Junior Michael Berger is in the top 20 after one round of the Ron Smith Invitational, hosted by USF in Tampa, FL.

Berger (38, 36- 74) shot even par on the back nine of the par 72, 7014 yard course. Adam Kolloff (38, 40 - 78) shot 2-over par in the front nine and ended round one in a tie for 55th. Andrew Storm (42, 37 - 79), Billy Bowling (39, 41 -80), and Derren Garber (42, 39, -81) completed the first of three rounds in a tie for 64th, 71st, and a tied for 72nd respectively.

FAU (311) is 16th out of 17 teams entering the second day. MTSU (288) has an eight stroke lead over Columbus State to hold onto first place. The individual leader is Ben Spitz (33, 33 - 66) who shot 6-under par in the opening round.

The Owls will compete in the second round starting Saturday morning.
