Gulf Breeze, FL. - Soggy conditions did not help Florida Atlantic University as the men's golf team finished in sixth place at the Emerald Coast Collegiate hosted by the University of West Florida at Tiger Point Golf & Country Club. The Owls shot a team low 306 in the second round but shot a 308 in the final round to finish 36-strokes back from the winner UWF.

Nicolai Syvertsen started the day shooting a 77 to finish the second round and then fired a team low round of 73 to finish the day in 11th place. Scott Kennedy came back from a tough first day to fire rounds of 76 and 77 to move up 20 spots to 34th place. Matt Anderson was not as lucky though as the senior from Tallahassee, FL, shot a third round 80 to drop him into a tie of 34th place. Michael Bailey, who shot an opening round 75, finished with rounds of 77 and 84 while Joel Gibbons rebounded from an opening day 85 to shoot consecutive rounds of 78.

UWF did not trail at any point of the tournament and finished with a three round total of 888. Austin Peay State University (905), Wofford College (908) Georgia College & State University (922) and the University of Nebraska (922) rounded out the top five. The Owls finished 23 strokes better than fellow Atlantic Sun Conference member Troy State who finished 15th in the 17 school tournament.

FAU takes part in the Treasure Coast Classic March 13-14, in Jensen Beach, FL.
