Four FAU Players Named to Rivals.com All-Sun Belt Team

Dec. 10, 2007

Four players on the Florida Atlantic University football team have been named to the Rivals.com All-Sun Belt Team. Of those four, three are on the defensive side, including linebacker Frantz Joseph, Cergile Sincere and cornerback Tavious Polo. Wide Receiver Cortez Gent was the only offensive player on the FAU team to make the list.

Joseph led the Owls and the Sun Belt with 121 tackles, a school record. He had two interceptions, including one in the conference-clinching win over Troy on December 1. He was named Sun Belt Player of the Week for his efforts in the win over the Trojans and also named to the Sun Belt Conference's All-Sun Belt Team.

Sincere was second on both the Owl team and conference with 108 tackles. He had a team leading nine tackles for loss, along with six forced fumbles and two sacks. Sincere had 15 tackles in the win over North Texas on September 22, for which he was named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week.

Polo led the Owls with a team-record seven interceptions, all of which came in the first five games of the regular season. He had three picks in the win over Minnesota on September 15. Polo was named both Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week and Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the week for his efforts in that game.

Gent led FAU with 61 receptions for 1,030 yards and nine touchdowns. His performances got better as the season wore on, as Gent caught six passes for 118 yards and a touchdown against Florida on November 17. He followed that performance with a four-catch game against FIU for 145 yards and two touchdown catches. Gent wrapped up the season catching eight passes for 155 yards and a touchdown in the win over Troy on December 1.
