FAU Faces FIU on Senior Day

Nov. 25, 2008

Game Notes in PDF Format Game Notes

Head Coach Howard Schnellenberger

Importance of Game,
"We have a rivalry. It is good that it's a game against two equal football teams with both having a lot riding on the game."

This Senior Class,
"This has been a great group of seniors. They came in when we were between Division I-AA and Division I. They have carried the program a long way, and i'm confident they will finish up carrying it a long way. Their presence on this campus, their devotion to the team is part of the reason why we have reached the plateau we find ourselves in. They, like their predecessors, are an unselfish group. They came for the good of the university and the good of the football team more than personal glorification. They wanted to be the ones to develop tradition and they have."

The Florida Atlantic University football team conducted its' first practice of the week today in preparation for their final regular season game against Florida International University (4-6, 3-3 Sun Belt).

The team practiced for two and half hours focusing on special teams, the line, and drills at game speed. Running back Jeff Blanchard shoulder most of the carries today as quarterback Rusty Smith continued to connect with his receivers.

The Owls take on the Golden Panthers Saturday, November 29 at 4 p.m. at Dolphin Stadium. The meeting marks the seventh times that the teams have meet, with FAU holding a 5-1 lead in the series. The first 500 entrants will receive a free t-shirt. FAU (5-6, 3-3 Sun Belt) will become bowl eligible with a win over FIU.
