FAU Football Teams with South Florida Touchdown Club Hosts Shula Bowl VII Coaches Dinner

Nov. 17, 2008

BOCA RATON, Fla.- Florida Atlantic University's Football Head Coach Howard Schnellenberger will join Florida International University Football Head Coach Mario Cristobal at the South Florida Touchdown Club Foundation's "Shula Bowl VII Coaches Dinner" on Monday, November 24 beginning at 7 p.m. at the Miami Shores Country Club, 10000 Biscayne Blvd in Miami Shores.

The Shula Bowl, named after legendary Miami Dolphins Head coach Don Shula, began in 2002 as a way of building the football rivalry between FAU and FIU. FAU football began in 2001, and FIU joined the ranks of university football in 2002. Since that time, the two universities have played annually with FAU holding the 5-1 overall advantage. Schnellenberger will also be joined by members of his team.

The Miami Touchdown Club was founded in 1959 by a group of local community leaders with a strong interest in supporting all aspects of football in Dade County. Long-established relationships exist with local public and private high schools, the University of Miami, the Miami Dolphins, as well as with FAU and FIU. Schnellenberger also has partnered with the Touchdown Club to increase its membership and assist in opportunities for the club to help the South Florida community.

Tickets for the dinner are $50 for Touchdown Club members and $65 for non-members. Proceeds go toward both FAU and FIU's freshmen dinner and scholarship fund. An auction item at the event will include two pre-game meals with FAU football players prior to the FAU/FIU Shula Bowl game at Dolphin Stadium on Saturday, November 29 at 4 p.m.

For more information or to purchase tickets, call 305-477-1815.
