This week's practice reports/interviews

The Owls travel to Kentucky to face Western Kentucky University Saturday at 7 p.m. ET. It will be the first-ever meeting between WKU and FAU. While WKU is a member of the Sun Belt Conference, this will not be a conference contest as the Hilltopers are completing the two-year transition into Division I-A. Even though the two teams will meet for the first time, the state of Kentucky is one of the more familiar states for the Owls.

FAU has played at Eastern Kentucky, at Louisville and at Kentucky. It is also the home state of Head Coach Howard Schnellenberger and offensive coordinator Gary Nord. The duo first coached together at Louisville. Louisville is also where assistant head coach Kurt Van Valkenburgh joined forces with Schnellenberger and where defensive coordinator Kirk Hoza earned his master's degree and defensive line coach Johnny Frost played his collegiate career.
