Avery Holley is among several players vying for playing time on kick and punt returns.
FAU Monday Practice Report

Aug. 17, 2008

The Florida Atlantic University football team returned to the practice field behind the Tom Oxley Center a day after scrimmaging in front of a crowd at Fanfest.

An extended amount of time was spent on special team drills. Kickoff and punt coverage and blocking were emphasized as kicker Warley Leroy and punter Mickey Groody were able to practice with full pressure. A number of players also were able to field kickoffs and punts as FAU looks to sort through the stable of talented returners. FAU also practiced pass coverage in 7 on 7 drills. Senior linebacker George Allen was able to rip away a ball from a receiver in mid-air to record an interception. FAU will conduct three practices tomorrow.

Season and individual game tickets are on sale now. Tickets will be available for purchase at Fanfest. The Owls begin their home schedule against the University of Alabama-Birmingham on Saturday, September 6 at 4 p.m. at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale. For more information or to purchase tickets, call 1-866-FAU-OWLS.
