Former FAU Kicker Mark Myers Signs with New York Jets

Former Florida Atlantic University football kicker Mark Myers signed with the New York Jets on Monday, May 12. Myers was place-kicker at FAU from 2001 to 2004, where he set numerous kicking and overall points' records, including points in a season, points in a career, field goals and extra points in a season and career. He connected on 43 of 59 field goals in his career for the Owls. Myers has played professionally for the Hamilton Tiger Cats of the CFL in 2006. In three games he connected on five of six field goals, including a game-winning 44-yard kick against Calgary in his debut. Another former FAU standout hoping to break out is former Owl safety Taheem Acevedo. Acevedo worked out with the Kansas City Chiefs during the team's rookie mini-camp that took place May 9-11. He is awaiting word as to whether he will receive a second workout with the team.
