Physical Play Marks Wednesday Practice
April 13, 2005 Boca Raton, FL - The Florida Atlantic football team got through another day of heavy hitting Wednesday afternoon, as the team practiced normal packages and goal line situations at full speed. "I was delighted we got through our goal line scrimmage without a lot of people getting hurt," head coach Howard Schnellenberger said. "This is the kind of practice you need to have to get into game-condition and gain toughness." The offense moved the ball better than it had most of the spring, with running back B.J. Manley picking up good yardage on the ground and quarterback Danny Embick in synch with his receivers. The Owls practice again Friday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. The FAU Athletic Department and coach Fred O'Connor will again provide beverages and refreshments for interested fans in the Founder's Lounge at the Tom Oxley Center. This service will be provided Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 4:00 p.m., and all fans are encouraged to attend.
FAU has also announced details of the Spring Game. The game will take place April 23 at 2:00 p.m. at the Tom Oxley Center. The game will likely take the form of a controlled scrimmage. Also on the 23rd, FAU will hold a yard sale of used game jerseys, warm-up gear, and surplused items from football, baseball, basketball, and softball. The sale will be open to the public, will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and will take place at the Tom Oxley Center. Cash, check and credit will all be accepted. Notable: Wide receiver Frantz Simeon had a fantastic leaping catch, plucking the ball away from cornerback Quincy Skinner. McKinson Souverain displayed his athleticism again with several nifty runs, though he may be scrambling a little too often for the coaches' tastes. Injuries: A couple of players got a little dinged up, though linebacker Julian Myers, with an injured knee, was the only player carted off the field. His injury does not appear to be serious, however. |
