Wednesday Practice Marks the Return of Three DBs

April 9, 2008

BOCA RATON, FL - Wednesday's practice continued the countdown toward the Owls' spring game scheduled for April 19. The squad worked in full pads and saw the return of several defensive backs that will help to challenge the wide receivers in practice.

The corner duo of Corey Small and Tavious Polo, who garnered Freshman All-American honors, were among the nation's leaders in interceptions by corners with 12. They had been limited due to injuries during the first half of spring camp, but returned and were joined by freshman Austin Jensen who also returned and who will fight for a starting spot among the defensive backs.

The squad went through its normal individual drills, 7-on-7, and team drills before calling it a day. FAU will return to the Oxley Center on Friday as scheduled.

All practices are free and open to the public. The Owls will practice on Monday, Wednesday and Friday the next week and a half. Saturday, April 12, FAU will hold its second scrimmage of the spring at 2 p.m. on the Tom Oxley Fields. The scrimmage is free and open to the public. On April 19, join the defending Sun Belt Conference and New Orleans Bowl champion Owls for the eighth annual spring game at 2 p.m. at the FAU track and field complex. Enjoy a sneak preview of the Owls 2008 season, complete with an interactive area for the kids, memorabilia surplus sale, and a special appearance from the FAU cheerleaders and Owsley the mascot.
