Pindell Leads Defense in Monday Practice

April 3, 2006

The second day in pads at Florida Atlantic's spring football practice was very spirited with hard hitting. Coach Howard Schnellenberger was pleased with the team's effort but is looking for more cohesion among the units as they move towards the first scrimmage on Saturday.

In the 7-on-7 drills, Frantz Simeon was a favored target of Sean Clayton. The two hooked up on four passes for over 50 yards, but it was Clayton's pass to sophomore Chad Wilkes that gained the most yards on the day. Clayton found Wilkes down the left side line where he made an acrobatic catch for 60 yards.

In team drills, defensive back Troy Pindell picked off a pass after narrowly missing an interception earlier in the 7-on-7 drills. Red-shirt freshman John Mertilus was able to pick up a fumble for another of the defense's takeaways.

The team will return to the practice field on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at the Tom Oxley Athletic Fields.
