FAU Wednesday Spring Practice Report

April 2, 2008

The Florida Atlantic University football team began their second week of spring practice on Wednesday outside the Tom Oxley Athletic Center. This is the second to last practice for the Owls prior to their first weekly scrimmage of the spring season on Saturday.

The Owls offensive and defensive line worked heavily on technique in practice. Coach Howard Schnellenberger stood in and trained members of the offensive line from starter Brandon Jackson to backups Chris Newbold and Chris White on downfield blocking.

The offensive and defensive units worked in seven-on-seven drills. Jeff Blanchard and DiIvory Edgecomb took handoffs in the running portion of the seven-on-seven. The defensive line was patrolled by Jamere Johnson and Jermaine Council on the line, and at linebacker by Andre Clark, Edward Breadwell and Michael Lockley. In the passing part of the seven-on-seven drills, Rusty Smith found William Rose out of the backfield during their limited work. Jeff VanCamp also hooked up long with Chris Bonner against a secondary led by Tarvoris Hill and Curtis Cross.

FAU will resume practice on Friday, April 4 outside the Tom Oxley Athletic Center at 3:30 p.m. All spring practice sessions are open to the public. The Owls will practice on Monday's, Wednesday's, Friday's and scrimmage on Saturday's at 2 p.m. until April 19, when FAU holds it spring game at the FAU Track and Field Complex.
