Heading to Hawaii, Again

Jan. 11, 2005

Dear FAU Supporter,

A couple of our star athletes are headed for the tropics. No, they're not going on vacation; they've been invited to take part in a prestigious event, as part of the post-season blitz of Bowl games. After a successful winning season, these seniors will make one last appearance for FAU, and will get the opportunity to perhaps head to the next level of football, as scouts for the NFL will be watching their every move.

Who are they and where are they going...?

Chris Laskowski and Jared Allen have made a name for themselves here at home, but you can be sure that everyone will know their name after they "show `em what they're made of" in the Hula Bowl in Maui, Hawaii!

As we all know, Chris is one of FAU's star linebackers and has helped take them to the top this year, along with his buddy Jared Allen, who was of course, the quarterback for FAU this past season. Although, Chris says that he is "not completely satisfied" with the team's performance this year, simply because he wanted to have a better record, he did say they had a "great ride", and this is a great way to finish up the season. This attitude will propel him even further as he moves up in to the next stage of his football career.

Commitment and dedication to improve are just a few of the things that Coach Schnellenberger taught him, and his teammates in the last several years. In fact, when talking about the Coach's influence on his life, he stated that Schnellenberger... "Helped a lot of us to become who we are, and modeled to us what a football player and a student should be. We owe a lot to him. I will never forget my time here."

He wants to "see how it goes" in Hawaii, and casually said that he is basing whether or not to "...give the pros a shot", on his performance in this game. That's a great deal of pressure to put on himself, but he knows that this is the chance of a lifetime, and that it could be a big break for him!

Chris is excited to play against the top guys in the country, and knows that the television audience will be great. The Hula Bowl will be broadcast on ESPN on January 22nd, and we will be watching with anticipation and excitement as Chris and Jared prove they are worthy of their place in the game! Go get `em guys!
