Florida Atlantic Takes Texas St. 20-13

Oct. 9, 2004

Final Stats

SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP) - Brittney Tellis and Aaron Sanchez each scored touchdowns as Florida Atlantic held on to beat Texas State 20-13 Saturday.

Sanchez scored on a 1-yard run three minutes into the game, then Florida Atlantic (4-0) went up 20-7 on Tellis' 31-yard TD catch midway through the second quarter.

Texas State (2-3) pulled within 20-13 on a 24-yard touchdown run by Wellington Deshield with 3:50 left in the second quarter.

But then neither team did much in the second half before Texas State's Barrick Nealy threw a pass into the end zone with fewer than two minutes left. The pass was broken up by Florida Atlantic defenders.

Nealy was 14-of-25 for 167 yards and ran for another 70 yards. But he was intercepted twice and sacked six times.

Florida Atlantic's Jared Allen was 9-of-18 for 164 yards.
