Chuck Marks started the Colonels' comeback with a 10-yard touchdown run with 8:16 left in the first half. Adam Smith added a 45-yard field goal in the half's closing seconds to give Eastern Kentucky (2-2) a 10-6 halftime lead.

Pierre Wright blocked a punt for a safety early in the third quarter and Marks had a 3-yard touchdown run to give Eastern Kentucky a 19-6 lead.

Smith extended the lead to 22-6 with a 22-yard field goal with 2:35 left in the third quarter.
