BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University men's basketball head coach Matt Doherty has announced the promotion of Rex Walters to Associate Head Coach. The move comes nearly two months after Walters accompanied Doherty to FAU to help lead the men's basketball program.

"Coach Walters deserves this title as he has proven to me that he is a terrific leader," said Doherty. "I have delegated a lot of responsibility to him as he assists me in managing this program on a day-to-day basis. I feel this role will help him prepare to be a terrific head coach in the near future. We are very fortunate to have Coach Walters here."

Since Walters' arrival to FAU, the Owls have signed four players to National Letters of Intent. He was the first coach added to Doherty's FAU staff. Doherty has also hired Malcolm Farmer, James Stafford, and Mike Balado to fill out his staff.
