West Palm, FL - Head men's basketball coach Sidney Green received the Palm Beach County Coach-of-the-Year award Sunday evening in West Palm, FL. Green received the award for leading FAU to its first conference championship along with the schools first appearance in the NCAA tournament in 2002. The Owls finished the 2001-2002 season 19-12 and 13-7 in the Atlantic Sun Conference. Green became the third coach from FAU to receive this award.

"It is a honor and a testament to our program that this honor has been awarded," said FAU head coach Sidney Green Sunday night. "To be the first Division I coach in Palm Beach County to lead a basketball team to the NCAA Tournament says a lot about the strength of our coaching staff and the type of outstanding young men that we have brought into the FAU program. The athletes are the reason and the assistant coaches help make it happen."

The fourth year coach joins the likes of fellow colleagues, Joan Joyce (softball) and Kevin Cooney (baseball) in winning this award.
