Men's Basketball to Face Georgia State

Feb. 18, 2004

BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University embarks on its last regular season road trip of the season when it faces Georgia State Thursday night in Atlanta, GA. Tip-off is set for 6:00pm at the GSU Sports Arena. The game can be heard on WLVJ 1040-AM as well as www.fausports.com. FAU enters the game 8-15 overall and is 5-11 in the Atlantic Sun Conference.

The Owls will be trying to snap a season-long seven-game losing streak. Their last outing resulted in a 70-69 loss to Jacksonville on February 14 at home. Mike Bell, who was named A-Sun Player-of-the-Week on Monday, leads FAU with 19.1 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. He is second in the A-Sun in scoring and first in rebounding. Earnest Crumbley is second on the team with 12.5ppg. Crumbley needs 47 points to become FAU's all-time leading scorer.

Crumbley scored 21 against Stetson and now is 57 points away from becoming FAU's all-time leading scorer. The senior has scored 1,445 points and is second only to Craig Buchanan's 1,501 scored from 1993-97.

Georgia State enters the game 15-8 overall and 10-6 in the Atlantic Sun. The Panthers are coming off a 90-67 victory at Campbell on February 14. The Panthers had a seven-game winning streak in January before dropping four straight. Nate Williams leads the team with 14.3ppg. Trello Galloway is averaging 10.7 while Kevin Thomas is chipping in 10.5ppg.

This is the 22nd meeting between the two teams. GSU holds a 15-6 series edge. In the last meeting, the Panthers defeated the Owls, 79-76, January 5 in Boca Raton. FAU is 0-10 all-time against GSU at the GSU Sports Arena.

The game is the first of two for the Owls in Georgia. They face Mercer Saturday night in Macon
