Crumbley Receives A-Sun Honor
Feb. 4, 2002
Florida Atlantic University's Earnest Crumbley has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference men's basketball player-of-the-week, announced the conference Monday. The honor comes after Crumbley helped lead the Owls to a 2-0 mark last week to tie the team for first place in the A-Sun. Crumbley came off the bench in FAU's 80-78 win at Belmont January 28 to score a team-high 20 points. The sophomore went 6-of-9 from beyond the arc in the win which was his career-high for treys in a game. Against Troy State on Saturday, Crumbley came off the bench to score 12 points, which included four threes that helped FAU come from behind and defeat the first-place Trojans 67-66 and earn a share of the A-Sun lead. In all, Crumbley shot 50 percent from the field and a blistering 63 percent (10-of-16) from beyond the arc while committing just two turnovers in 40 minutes of action. Florida Atlantic (12-8, 9-4 A-Sun) is enjoying its best season in five years and needs just four more wins in its last seven games to tie for the program's best record since moving to Division I. The Owls already have won five more games than last year and four more in A-Sun play. FAU hosts Mercer Monday night at 7:00pm.
