Men's Basketball to Host Stetson

Jan. 19, 2003

BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University will conclude its two-game homestand Monday, January 20, when it hosts Stetson University. The game begins at 7:00pm at FAU gymnasium and can be heard live on www.fausports.com.

FAU enters the game 4-12 overall and 0-4 in the Atlantic Sun Conference South Division. The Owls have lost nine straight games since opening the season 4-3. It's the team longest such streak since the 1999-2000 season. FAU is coming off a 74-63 loss at home on Saturday night against Jacksonville.

Earnest Crumbley, FAU's leading scorer with 16.8 points per game, needs 17 points to reach 1,000 for his career. If he eclipses the mark against the Hatters, Crumbley would become the second Owl to do so in a 10-day span. Previously, only two Owls had scored 1,000 career points since the start of the program in 1988. Jeff Cowans, who reached 1,000 on January 11, is second on the team with 13.9 points per game.

Stetson brings in a 2-12 record and an 0-5 mark in the A-Sun. The Hatters join the Owls as the only team in the A-Sun without a conference victory. Stetson lost its first eight games of the season and is led by Alexis McMillan's 13.7 points per game. The Hatters are coming off an 82-70 loss at Central Florida on Saturday.

FAU trails the all-time series 11-9 but swept the season series a year ago. The Owls own a 5-4 mark in the series at FAU Gymnasium.

Tickets are available at the door. Prices are $7 for adults and $5 for those 18-and-under as well as seniors.

In addition to www.fausports.com, the game can also be heard live on the FAU student radio station, WOWL 91.7-FM.
