FAU defeated by Youngstown State University in San Juan, Puerto Rico

The Florida Atlantic men's basketball team was defeated Thursday afternoon 72-53 by the Penguins of Youngstown State University in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The loss drops the Owls to 2-9 on the season with one game remaining in the Puerto Rico Holiday Classic. FAU was led by Daryl Dingle who contributed 10 points and eight rebounds. Nick Neumann also added eight rebounds. Youngstown State's, Desmond Harrison was the game-high scorer with 14 points.

The Owls were able to stay with YSU during the first five minutes of the game, tying it at seven. FAU was not able to keep up the pace and did not score for the next six minutes of the game. The Owls went into the locker room with a 19 point deficit.

In the second-half, FAU was able to close the gap to 53-46 with a 9-0 run, with 5:50 left in the game. This spurt was led by Neumann who scored five of his seven points during the run. YSU then finished the game by outscoring FAU 19-7 in the final five minutes.

Florid Atlantic University will next play Friday at 11 am against American University of Puerto Rico in its final game of the Puerto Rico Holiday Classic.
