CHESTNUT HILL, MA - An inspired effort on the road by the Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team came up just a bit short in a 68-62 defeat against Boston College on Monday night.

The Owls built a 33-31 halftime lead on the strength of aggressive point guard play from junior college transfer Carderro Nwoji. Starting in just his second game for FAU, Nwoji lead the team with 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the floor.

Paul Graham III followed up a 16-point effort against Rhode Island with 14 more against the Eagles, sinking 2-of-3 from beyond the arc while occasionally playing the point to spell Nwoji. The Philadelphia junior shot 5-for-12 on the night.

A breakthrough performance by redshirt freshman Sanchez Hughley may also be sign of promising things to come, as the 6'4" swingman drilled his first three triple tries of the game en route to a solid 11-point outing. He also led FAU with two steals.

The Owls were able to build an eight-point lead with eight minutes to go on a three-pointer by Graham, but the Eagles answered back with an 8-0 run sparked by the dominant play of first team All-ACC point guard Tyrese Rice.

Rice, playing his first game of the season after serving an NCAA suspension during Saturday's opener against New Hampshire, helped B.C. (2-0) outscore FAU by a 23-9 margin down the stretch. The junior finished with 21 points, 9 assists and 4 rebounds.

Florida Atlantic (0-2) returns to the Sunshine State to face upstate rival Stetson in the first of three games in three days at Daytona Beach. The games are part of the continuing Glenn Wilkes Classic, with the Owls facing South Florida on Saturday and Cleveland State on Sunday.
