Final Stats

BOCA RATON, FL - Jeff Cowans scored a career-high 24 points to lead Florida Atlantic University, but it wasn't enough as the Owls were defeated, 76-66, by Troy State University Saturday afternoon in Boca Raton, FL. TSU was led by Ben Fletcher's 23 points.

Both teams played a close first half with TSU taking a 34-31 advantage into the locker room. In the second half, TSU opened with a 19-5 run to lead 50-39 at the 14:03 mark. FAU would battle back with a 12-3 run, capped off by a three-pointer by Cowans, and trailed 53-51 with 10:43 to play.

That would be as close as FAU would get as TSU opened up as much as an 11-point lead with 52 seconds to play. Fletcher went 7-for-8 from the line down the stretch to complement his game-high four three-pointers.

FAU shot 26-for-75 from the field for 34.7 percent while TSU went 24-for-60 for 40 percent. The Trojans were 11-for-28 from beyond the arc while the Owls went 6-for-25. Cowans made three of FAU's treys.

Earnest Crumbley finished with 11 points for FAU. Wes Edwards had eight points and a career-high 13 rebounds, and Chris Thomas also scored eight.

TSU's Herbert Evans added 14 points while Greg Davis scored 11. FAU outrebounded TSU 52-38.

Florida Atlantic next concludes its regular season March 1 against Central Florida.
