TROY, AL - Troy State University had five players score in double-figures as it defeated Florida Atlantic University, 93-81, Sunday afternoon in Troy, AL. FAU never led as TSU opened the game with a big run and never led by less than six points the rest of the way. Rob Lewin led all scorers with 28 points while Greg Davis added 21 points and 11 assists. FAU was led by Earnest Crumbley's 20 points. Crumbley finished the game with six three-pointers. Troy State started out the game with a 23-6 blitz in the first six minutes. The Owls, however, put together a run of their own as they outscored the Trojans 19-8 over the next 5:47, capped off by a three-pointer by Crumbley, to pull to within 31-25. The Trojans then went on an 11-2 run and led 42-27 at the 6:18 mark. A Darren Dickerson three with 1:20 left in the half ended a 13-5 run by the Owls and cut the TSU lead to 47-40. The Trojans led 51-40 at the half.

In the second half, FAU was never able to get closer than eight points as TSU built as much as a 19-point lead down the stretch.

"It was a tough loss," said FAU head coach Sidney Green. "But I give a lot of credit to Troy State. They are an exceptional team with great athletes and a dynamic point guard."

TSU shot 45 percent and held FAU to 40 percent. The Trojans held a 53-50 advantage on the boards.

Florida Atlantic next faces UCF Wednesday in Orlando. The Golden Knights lead the A-Sun with a 10-0 conference record and have won 13 straight games overall.
