Owls Lose Tough One Against Middle Tennessee, 61-57

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) -- Desmond Yates scored 14 points and Middle Tennessee held on Wednesday for a 61-57 victory that kept Florida Atlantic winless in the Sun Belt Conference.

Middle Tennessee (6-9, 3-2 Sun Belt) led nearly the whole game but the Owls (4-12, 0-6) trailed just 60-57 with 10 seconds left on a basket by Carderro Nwoji. Kevin Kanaskie made a free throw with 7 seconds left, and the Owls never got another shot.

Middle Tennessee led 30-25 at halftime and pushed it to 59-49 with 3:19 left.

Demetrius Green scored 11 for Middle Tennessee and Kanaskie and Josh Sain added 10 each.

The Owls were led by Jeff Parmer with 16 points and Carlos Monroe with 15. The team hit just 4-of-22 3 pointers while the Blue Raiders made 5-of-15.
