Randy Beam Picks Up Another Post-Season Honor
June 19, 2003 Randy Beam picked up his fourth All-America award this season on Thursday as Baseball America named the Florida Atlantic University left-handed pitcher a Third Team All-American. The Sarasota native finished his 2003 campaign tied for fifth in the nation in victories. Leading the squad with a 13-2 record and a 2.39 ERA, Beam (Booker HS) held opponents to a discreet .202 batting average. In the midst of 10 consecutive wins, he was named Atlantic Sun Player-of-the-Week twice and threw two complete-game one-hitters. The junior helped guide FAU to its fourth NCAA Tournament in the past five years as the team finished with a 47-16 record and won the A-Sun Title for the first time in school history. Beam also earned First Team All-Conference honors and was named to the Coral Gables Regional Team after throwing a complete game against Miami.
CollegeBaseballInsider.com, Collegiate Baseball and Sports Weekly honored the pitcher earlier this year on their All-America teams.
