Stevens and Storey Earn All-Regional Recognition

June 6, 2005

Florida Atlantic University's Tyler Stevens and Mickey Storey earned All-Regional recognition on Sunday evening after the two had outstanding weekends at the Coral Gables NCAA Baseball Regional. FAU finished the season with a 37-24 record.

A sophomore from West Palm Beach, Stevens made six plate appearances in the three games and came away with six hits including a double, an RBI and three runs scored. Normally a middle infielder, Stevens played third base and was instrumental in FAU's win over Virginia Commonwealth. The Second Team Atlantic Sun member started the eighth inning with a single and crossed the plate as the game-tying run. In the ninth he would provide insurance with an RBI single up the middle. Against Mississippi State Stevens went 4-for-4 with two runs scored. Stevens raised his batting average .044 points with the offensive outburst. He finished his sophomore campaign with a .424 batting average.

Storey (Deerfield Beach, FL) pitched his second complete game in as many outing as he improved to 10-1 on the year. Storey allowed only one run in nine innings and struck out seven VCU hitters while allowing six hits He is the first freshman in FAU history to pick up 10 wins and he is the only pitcher in the program's Division I history to post an ERA under 2.00. His 1.70 ERA earned him Third Team All-America Recognition from Louisville Slugger.

The two will return in 2006 with most of the 2005 team intact. The 2005 squad featured 11 sophomores and 7 freshmen.
