Tim Mascia earned Freshmen All-America honors on Thursday after he was named to the Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-American Team. The sophomore from Wellington, FL worked himself into the Florida Atlantic University lineup in center field.

The Wellington High School graduate finished the season fourth on the squad with a .344 average after seeing action in 50 games. He hit two home runs, one was a game winning three-run shot in the 10th inning against conference foe, Georgia State, and the other was against Florida in the Coral Gables NCAA Regional. He also collected 14 RBI, three doubles and a triple during the season.

Florida Atlantic won the Atlantic Sun Title for the first time in school history in 2003. The team finished the year with a 47-16 record, for the third most wins in history.
