CSS to Air Coral Gables Regional
June 1, 2005 The "Road to Omaha" begins this week on Comcast / Charter Sports Southeast (CSS), as the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship gets underway. CSS will carry coverage of the Coral Gables Regional live from Mark Light Field in Coral Gables, Fla., as well as select games from the Tulane University Regional from New Orleans, La. "College baseball thrives in the South, so we are excited to extend our collegiate baseball broadcast season with live coverage of the NCAA Regionals from Miami and Tulane," said Mark Fuhrman, general manager of CSS. "This is an excellent opportunity to bring unique local programming to our viewers throughout the region while showcasing some of the top college teams in the nation." The Hurricanes will host Mississippi State, Florida Atlantic and Virginia Commonwealth, while Tulane, the top seed in the tournament, will face Alabama, Louisiana-Lafayette and Southern. Of the 64 teams in the tournament field, 16 played on CSS during the 2005 season including all nine Southeastern Conference teams and five Atlantic Coast Conference squads.
CSS is a 24-hour regional sports network serving approximately 4.5 million cable subscribers across 11 southeastern states. Launched in 1999, the network is a partnership between Comcast Corporation and Charter Communications and provides a comprehensive mix of live sports programming, sports news and in-depth sports analysis exclusively geared toward fans in the Southeast. CSS is only available on cable. ###
