Several Florida Atlantic University baseball players received post-season honors announced, Tuesday, by the Atlantic Sun Conference. Randy Beam, Rusty Brown and Jeff Fiorentino were each named First-Team All-Conference.

In addition, Danny Core, Derek Hutton, Mike Cox, Evan Brannon and Matt Pali received Second-Team honors. FAU's Tim Mascia picked up All-Freshmen Honors.

Beam, who leads the conference in wins and is third in the country with a 12-1 record, is holding opponents to a .196 batting average. The junior from Sarasota, FL, has thrown four complete-game shutouts.

Brown (N. Fort Myers, FL) leads the team in almost every offensive category. He carried an 18-game hitting streak until last weekend and holds a .389 average with 10 home runs and 62 RBIs.

After being named to the A-Sun Preseason Team, Fiorentino finished second in the conference with 14 home runs and is second on the team with a .377 batting average and 45 RBIs.

Cox picked up Second-Team recognition for the second consecutive season. Core, a right-handed pitcher also picked up All-Conference recognition for the second season, while Brannon, a shortstop, Pali, an outfielder, and Hutton, a second baseman, are listed for the first time.

Mascia, an outfielder from Wellington, FL, is batting .378 in 82 at bats.

Florida Atlantic (44-12) is the top seed at this week's A-Sun Championship in DeLand, FL. FAU will face no. 6 Jacksonville in Wednesday's opening round action at 11 am. FAU is looking to win its first A-Sun Tournament championship and receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
