Jacksonville Takes Game Three 11-4

Final Stats

In the third game of an Atlantic Sun Conference series, Jacksonville University left FAU Stadium with an 11-4 win over Florida Atlantic University on Sunday afternoon. The Dolphins posted 15 hits in the win to improve to 33-13, 15-6 A-Sun, while FAU falls to 22-22, 8-13 A-Sun.

Both teams posted runs in the first inning. With two outs, the Dolphins picked up a single and a walk before a Matt Dobbins double drove in the first two runs of the contest.

FAU's RBI leader, Ovy Ramirez added to his season total with a two-run double of his own in the first inning. The two runs came off of JU starter Joey Wepner who made his first collegiate appearance.

The Dolphins put the game out of reach in the second inning by tagging FAU for four runs in the frame. All of the runs came with two out as Will Mann recorded two outs after giving up a leadoff double to Matt Lopez. Two Owls errors extended the inning before a ground ball to first base closed out inning as JU batted around the order.

Before the Owls put up a little bit of a fight in the eighth and ninth innings, Jacksonville put up five runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings,

After a leadoff single by Tim Mascia in the eighth inning, the senior came around to score on a Justin Martin groundout.

Two freshmen combined for the Owls' final run in the ninth inning as Nick Arata and Mario Duarte combined for back-to-back doubles.
 

 

Aaron Parvey picked up the win for JU in relief as he worked four innings and did not allow a run as he gave up four hits to improve to 5-1. Tim Brown earned a save by working the final three innings.

Tyler Sevens led the Owls with three hits, while JU's Daniel Murphy led the Dolphins by going 3-for-3 with three runs scored.

FAU will remain at home next weekend when it host Lipscomb University in a three-game series starting on Friday at 7 p.m.
