Cross Country Ends Season at South Regional
Nov. 11, 2007 GAINESVILLE, FL - The Florida Atlantic University cross country team ran at the NCAA South Regional on Saturday. The women finished 17th in the team competiton. Friederike Feil was the high individual finisher for FAU, completing the 6K in 22:25.91, good for 43rd. Christina Dutko finished 89th in 23:59.00. Katie Quick finished right behind Dutko in 90th place. Toni Shae Jackson took 101st place running a 24:24.46. Barbara Fronrath rounded out the scoring for the Owls, placing 115th in 24:48.56. Emily Seymore (26:14.85, 135th) and Jennifer Schwan (26:34.62, 138th) also ran for FAU at meet, although their times did not count towards the team's finish. "Individually, all of the women have had a great deal of improvement over the course of the season," said head cross country coach Alex Smolka.
Taylor Reeves finished 105th in 34:52.47 to lead the FAU men. Stephen Dassin finished in 111th place with a time of 35:18.20. Kyle Butler ran a 36:49.22 to take 121st. Timothy Haines (37:10.44, 124th), John Roy (37:50.84, 128th) and Jordan Dopkins (38:12.59, 138th) all finished within 63 seconds of each other. David Rundio finished 133rd in 39:47.77 to conclude the results for FAU.
"The men ran very well, and all of the returners from last year's Regional improved tremendously," said Smolka.
