DeLand, FL - Friederike Feil led the Florida Atlantic University women's cross country team while Stephen Dassin led the men's team at the Stetson Invitational on Friday night.

Feil won her second meet of the season in 18:38. Monika Grabowiecka (19:56) finished 4th, and Ashley Wilcox (20:11) finished 6th. Barbara Fronrath (20:38) and Allison Wilcox (20:45) also ran well as the Owls made up five of the first 10 eligible competitors to cross the finish line. Jillian Lopez finished in 33rd place (21:33) to round out the women's field for the Owls.

"(Friederike) has run really well all year, especially when you consider that she had never run a competitive 5K before this season," head cross country coach Alex Smolka said. "All our girls ran well tonight."

The women's team finished 12 points ahead of 2nd place Jacksonville University and 48 points ahead of 3rd place UCF.

The men's team was led by Dassin, who finished 1st among eligible competitors with a time of 28:34. Junior Jordan Zwick was 2nd among eligible competitors, finishing 11th overall with a time of 28:57. Taylor Reeves (29:07) and Earl Barlow (29:17) helped the Owls sweep the top four spots in the team competition as FAU easily topped 2nd place host Stetson.

Tim Haines (30:39/33rd), Kyle Byrtus (32:47/51st) and Kendrick Ribiero (34:51/63rd) also competed for the Owls.

"This was a huge meet for our men. We ran well considering that we also ran (Thursday) at the UM meet. This will give us a lot of confidence as we head to Conference Championships," Smolka said.

The Owls will take next week off before heading to Little Rock, Arkansas for their first appearance in the Sun Belt Conference Championships on Oct. 28th.
