Lisa Leutner finished 12th in the 5K in 18:56. Charlene Luxama set a personal record (19:32) while finishing 20th. Katie Quick (19:37/23rd) posted one of her best times of the season. Toni Jackson (19:52/29th) rounded out the scoring for the women. Helen Mann (19:57) closely followed in 30th place. Smolka will be making his first trip to the games as a coach. He made the U.S. team as an alternate in the triathlon in 1993.
