Track Team Returns to Miami for Hurricane Challenge

March 25, 2008

BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University's track team will return to Coral Gables on Saturday, March 29 to participate in the Hurricane Challenge, hosted by the University of Miami. Field events start at noon, with running events beginning at 5 p.m.

This meet will be the third in a row for many runners to compete close to home, after hosting the FAU Twilight Invitational, and then the Hurricane Invitational on March 22 and 23. Stephen Dassin and Taylor Reeves both set personal records in the 5,000 meters. Reeves also set a personal best in the 1,500 meters, and Kyle Butler set a new school record in the 3,000 meter steeplechase.

FAU is seeking to continue the momentum it gained during the indoor season and while hosting its first-ever home meet. The Hurricane Invitational meet will once again attract teams from up and down the east coast. It will be held at the Cobb Track Complex.

Results of Saturday's events will be posted at hurricanesports.com.
