Three Lady Owls Perform At Armory Collegiate Invite

New York, NY. - Florida Atlantic University was represented by three Lady Owls at the 2003 Armory Collegiate Invitational. Daquia McCoy, Malika Clary and Jian Jones competed in the 60m and 200m dash, with McCoy breaking the school's indoor record in the 200m and Jones breaking the record in the 60m.

McCoy broke the previous 200m record for the second time in a month with a time of 25.15, finishing 14th out of 45 competitors. The sophomore from Jacksonville, FL. held the old record of 25.44 before breaking it with a time of 25.21 at the Florida Invitational. Clary, a freshman from Tallahassee, finished with a personal best time of 25.29 to place 21st, while former high school teammate Jones finished with a time of 25.69 for 19th.

Jones flashed her speed in the 60m dash, as she just missed qualifying for the final by three places and finished 11th out of 44 competitors with a new school record time of 7.78, breaking the previous record of 7.83 held by McCoy. Clary finished just 0.01 seconds behind Jones with a time of 7.79, good for 13th and McCoy finished with a time of 7.88 to place 20th.

FAU's next event will be in Baton Rouge, LA., for the LSU Twilight Invitational, being held February 21.
