Final Stats

In the first meet of the season, Florida Atlantic University had an impressive showing at the Holiday Classic hosted by West Virginia University. Courtney Barge led the Lady Owls with a first place showing in the long jump, while Daquia McCoy finished third in the 55 meter dash.

Florida Atlantic competed in the meet with a split squad. In the sprint events a Lady Owl finished in the top-12 in each event. Daquia McCoy, a freshman from Jacksonville, FL, finished third in the 55 meter dash with a time of 7.16. McCoy also picked up a ninth place finish in the 300 meter dash (42.60) behind teammate Michelle Robinson. Robinson earned a time of 42.54 and eighth place. Helenor Wilson was right behind and finished 11th in a time of 43.00.

Courtney Barge, a freshman from Pensacola, FL, came away with a first and fifth place finish in the long jump and triple jump with distances of 5.59 m and 11.47 m.

Ashley Stough competed in the shot put and weight throw. Her first meet as a Lady Owl after transferring from Central Arizona College, she picked up a third and sixth place finish. She threw for 14.18 m in the weight throw and 12.06 m in the shot put.

Vicki Briggs was the only Lady Owl to compete in the 200 meter run and she finished in a time of 27.47. Her time was good enough for 12th place.

The team does not compete again until January 20, when they will travel to the US Naval Academy.
