Nov. 13, 2004

Complete Results

Tuscaloosa, AL. - Competing in its second consecutive NCAA Regional, Florida Atlantic University's cross-country team finished a program best 14th out of 23 teams, beating out three Atlantic Sun schools in the process. Raynell Hagberg ran the program's second fastest 6k time while Trisha Doyle had the seventh fastest time among freshmen.

"This was an exceptional meet for us," said head coach Alex Smolka. "All of our runners had great times for this long course and we really showed that this program is up and coming."

Hagberg, who placed 76th in last year's Regional, ran a personal best time of 22:06 to finish 29th out of 163 runners. Her time ranks second to Claudia Beitel, who ran the 6k event in 21:46 last season. Doyle, who broke her personal best 5k time on her way to the 6k finish, placed 36th with a time of 22:20.

Brittany Powers set a new personal best with a time of 23:17, good for an 87th place finish. Allison Wilcox (23:47), Linn Modin (24:38), Ashley Wilcox (24:59) and Jennifer Schwan (25:41) all competed in their first NCAA Regional.

As a team, the Lady Owls had an average time of 23:14, finishing ahead of host Alabama, Georgia State, UCF, Miami and Georgia Tech. Tennessee and Georgia finished first and second to qualify for the National Championship.
