Cross Country Runs At Atlantic Sun Championship

Oct. 27, 2001

In their final meet of the season, the Florida Atlantic University women's and men's cross country teams finished ninth and tenth at the Atlantic Sun Cross Country Championship hosted by Georgia State University.

Greg Burke was the only runner that placed in the top-40 for the men with a time of 27:40.89 in the 8K run. The remaining five Owl runners finished in the sixties.

The women's team had five runners set personal bests in this meet. Jill Gnieski led the team with FAU's number one runner, Claudia Beitel, out with stress fractures. Gnieski set a personal best in the 5K run in 20:24.97. Teammates Danyielle Weiss (21:55.91), Amy Schmidt (22:11.24), Lori Craig (22:57.46) and Jessica Santangelo (23:26.56) all improved their times in the biggest meet of the season.
