Cross Country Runs at Hatter Invitational

DeLand, FL - Florida Atlantic University's cross country teams traveled to DeLand, FL, Friday evening to take part in the Hatter Invitational hosted by Stetson University. Claudia Beitel won her second race of the year (18:30) leading the women to a third place finish. The men's team came in eighth, thanks in part to Manny Huerta's eighth place finish (27:01). Beitel managed to place first out of 113 women making up 19 teams. The men's race also featured 19 teams and 113 runners.

Freshman Monika Grabowiecka placed seventh for the second time in three weeks with a time of 19:20. The third place finish marks the third time the Lady Owls have ended in that spot.
 

 

Amy Springer was the third women's runner to finish within the top-15. Springer finished the course just over 20 minutes (20:01). Her time was good enough for 13th place.

Other runners for the women included, Brittany Powers (20:41), Antoinette Foster (21:00), Abby Moore (21:33), Erin Mayros (22:36), and Megan Berggren (24:52).

Senior Greg Burke continued his strong year by registering a 12th place finish with a time of 27:15. Ryan Lavender had a time of 28:37.

Sara Anzardo ran unattached with a time of 22:26.

The Lady Owls finished before league foes Stetson and Jacksonville. The University of Miami won the women's race, while UCF took the men's.

Men's and Women's cross country will run next at the A-Sun Championship November 1, in Buies Creek, NC.
