Women's and Men's Cross Country Place 8th and 14th

Final Stats

Gainesville, Fla. - Florida Atlantic University's men's and women's cross-country teams finished in the middle of the pack Saturday morning at the Florida Invitational as the teams finished 14th and 8th , respectively, out of a field of 24 schools.

Freshman Raynell Hagberg, from Stuart, Fla., finished her fifth straight match in the top-25 as she ran the 6k race in a time of 22:35.17 to place 20th. Fellow freshman Kathryn Murnane was not far behind as she ran a time of 23:02.06 to finish 33rd with Claudia Beitel finishing with a time of 24:08.42 to round out the Owls top three runners.

Junior Greg Burke, from Lantana, Fla., led the way for the men's team as he ran the 8k race in a time of 26:16.17 to place 32nd in the 200 man race. Sophomore Brian Mulvaney was right on his heels though as his time of 26:36.36 put him in 42nd place. Danny Goldsmith rounded out the top three finishers for the Owls with a time of 27:56.18.
 

 

This is the fifth straight meet where the women's team has finished in the top ten. Other notable times for the women's team are as follows: Antoinette Foster, 24:44.46; Colleen Newton, 25:06.90; Andrea Rassi, 26:58.42; Helenor Wilson, 27:20.33; Erin Mayros, 27:47.84.

Other notable times for the men's team are as follows: Lee Beckman, 28:05.49; Kristian Krayer, 29:23.94; Jesse Chafin, 29:49.60; Adam Cortes, 30:40.57; Matt Mazzola, 30:41.53.

Florida Atlantic's next race will be Friday, October 18th at the Stetson Invitational in Deland, Fla.
