Tampa, FL - The men's and women's cross country teams traveled to Ed Radice Park in Tampa, FL, Friday evening to run in the Flrunners.com Invitational. The teams returned to Boca Raton with a combined three top-ten finishers and a third place finish for the women. The men finished fifth. As she has all season, Claudia Beitel led the women placing fourth, while Manny Huerta paced the men with a seventh place finish. Beitel broke her own FAU record with an 18:37 finish. Both the men and women ran a 5K race.

Beitel, a senior, was one of seven Lady Owls posting FAU personal-best times. Freshman Monika Grabowiecka grabbed seventh place with a personal-best 18:56 finish.

Every FAU runner for the women placed in the top-30. Amy Springer (20:06), Artemis Saridakis (20:35), and Raynell Hagberg (20:42) rounded out the team. Combined, these five women set a new FAU record for team average, 19:55. In all, 16 teams and 120 women participated in the meet.

For the men, Huerta's time, 16:04, set a new FAU record in the 5K. Behind him, Greg Burke came in for his fourth top-twenty finish (18th) this season at 16:36. Ryan Lavender followed with a time of 17:05.

Running unattached for the women were Abby Moore (21:48), Erin Mayros (22:09), and Megan Berggren (25:41).

The cross country teams next take part in the Disney World Invitational, October 11, in Orlando.
