Owls Run well at Cross Country Festival

Sept. 27, 2005

BOCA RATON, FL -- After a successful weekend at the Great American Cross Country Festival, Florida Atlantic University's cross country teams will have the week off before heading to the Disney Invitational on October 8.

Raynell Hagberg put forth another great effort, completing the 5k course in 17:59, earning her a fifth-place finish. Her time was just sixteen seconds off the pace of the winner.

Linn Modin (19:06.2) and Trisha Doyle (19:07) efforts were strong as well, finishing 25th and 26th, respectively. Freshman, Anouck Mouthon wasn't far behind in 31st, finishing with a time of 19:17.8.

Monika Grabowiecka (20:09.2, 54th) and Amy Springer (20:36, 62nd) also ran for FAU.

The Owls finished fifth as a team, just 15 points behind conference foe Campbell, who finished in fourth. Less than twelve seconds separated their average times.

Campbell was the focus for FAU heading into this race, because they are a strong conference opponent and the Atlantic Sun Conference meet will be held on their home course.

Florida Atlantic will now take a few days off to rest, before training for the Disney Invitational. The race is set to begin at 9 a.m.
