Men and Women's Cross-Country Place Sixth and Seventh at FSU Invitational

Final Stats

Tallahassee, Fla. - Going against their first test of the cross-country season at the FSU invitational, the Florida Atlantic men and women's cross-country teams finished sixth and seventh, respectively, out of the 12 and 14 team competitions. Junior Greg Burke and freshman Raynell Hagberg both finished 23rd in each of their respective races to record their third top-25 finish in three meets.

The men's team finished the 8k race with an average time of 28:02 as they finished ahead of conference rival UCF by less than five seconds. Burke, with a time of 27:11.80, sophomore Brian Mulvaney, 27:43.60 and freshman Adam Cortes, 28:13.00, were the only members of the men's team to finish in the top 50.
 

 

The trio of Hagberg, 19:20.40, Kathryn Murnane, 19:44.60, and Claudia Beitel, 20:28.80, again led the Owls but Colleen Newton, 21:17.10 and Andrea Rassi, 21:49.80 have been steadily improving and moving their way up the time charts.

Other notable FAU times are: Helenor Wilson, 23:08.10, Antoinette Foster, 23:40.40, and Erin Mayros, 23:58.90. Notable FAU men's times are: Lee Beckman, 28:18.00, Danny Goldsmith, 28:44.50, Jesse Chafin, 30:30.00, Kristian Krayer, 30:40.20 and Matt Mazzola, 31:06.20.
