Hagberg Breaks School 5K Record

Sept. 9, 2005

Complete Results

Gainesville, FL -- Raynell Hagberg broke the Florida Atlantic University women's cross country record time in the 5k and Linn Modin ran her personal best time as they lead the Owls to a third place finish in the Gator Invitational at Gainesville, FL.

"It was a very good beginning to the season. Considering how hard we are training, if this is the beginning, we will only get better," head coach Alex Smolka said.

Florida Atlantic finished just one point behind second-place finisher Florida Southern.

On the men's side, Jon Del Cengo led the way with a time of 28:14.86. Earl Barlow was right behind him at 28:28.14 and Nick Jarrel was just 24 seconds behind his pace at 28:52.58.

"The men had a solid first 8k race. We only expect to improve on this week's results," Smolka said.

Both teams will head to Tallahassee, FL on September 17 for the FSU Invitational.
