Cross Country Officially Kicks Off Season

The Florida Atlantic University men's and women's cross country teams officially kicked off the season on Friday night at the UCF Invitational in Orlando, FL. The men's team mustered up an eleventh place finish, while the women finished 12th in a field of 16.

In his first collegiate meet, freshman Brian Mulvaney crossed the line first for the men with a 27th place finish and a time of 27:27.00 in the 8,000 meter run. Teammate Greg Burke, a sophomore from Lantana, FL finished right behind and recorded a time of 27:39.40 and 30th place.

On the women's side Claudia Beitel, a junior from Longwood, FL earned points for the Lady Owls with a 26th place finish and a time of 20:04.60. Jill Grieski held an average mile time of 7:00 and finished 56th with a time of 21:47.50 in the 5,000 meter run.
 

 

The teams next travel to Miami, FL on September 14, for the FIU Invitational.
