May 27, 2007

GAINESVILLE, FL - Friederike Feil finished 18th in the Steeplechase and the 4x400m relay team finished 12th in Gainesville, FL at the NCAA East Regional on Saturday.

Feil finished in 10:39.05, while the foursome of Brittany Vollmer, Toyria Mattear, Kerry-Ann Stewart and Malika Clary crossed the finish line in 3:43.69.

The steeplechase field was especially tough, with nine athletes breaking the facility record of 10:18.26 and three breaking the East Regional record of 10:03.55.

With the completion of the two events, FAU's track and field season comes to a close. Yanique Booth finished 17th in the 100m hurdles during Friday's action.

In the team's first year of competition in the Sun Belt Conference, FAU finished 8th in both the indoor and outdoor championships. In addition to her regional appearance, Fiel earned a pair of indoor titles in the 3,000m and the mile, helping her to earn Freshman of the Year honors and Most Outstanding Women's Track Performer. She is the first Owl to earn the Top Performer award.
