Track and Field Continues Success at UGA Invitational

Athens, GA. - With only a few members taking part, the Florida Atlantic University track and field team left its mark with six top ten finishes at the Georgia Invitational. Raynell Hagberg and Ashley Stough finished in the top-six as the duo prepares for the NCAA Regionals.

Hagberg, the winner of the 800m run at the Atlantic Sun Championship, finished fourth overall out of 20 participants in the 800m with a time of 2:12.39, her second best time of the season.

Stough, also a first place finisher at the A-Sun Championship in the hammer throw, placed sixth overall in the hammer with a throw of 45.25 meters.

Freshman Jian Jones continued to show that she will be a force in the future with her fifth straight top ten finish, eighth place overall, in the 100m dash with a time of 12.02, tying her second best time of the year.
 

 

Daquia McCoy and Malika Clary both finished in the top ten of the 200m dash, ninth and 10th respectively, in the 44-man competition. McCoy ran a time of 24.12 for her third straight top ten finish while Clary clocked in at 24.23.

Marilyn Stephens had a very productive day in Athens. The freshman from Miami, FL set two personal records in the 100m dash and 200 dash. Stephens ran a time of 12.25 in the 100 while running a time of 24.67 in the 200.

The 4x100m relay team, qualifiers for the NCAA Regionals as well, finished third overall with a time of 46.30.

FAU continues its tune up Saturday, May 10 at the Orange & Purple Classic in Clemson, SC.
