Track has strong showing at Florida Memorial College Invitational

With two weeks remaining until the conference championship, the Florida Atlantic University track team competed in the Florida Memorial College Invitational. The women took home six first place finishes. Vicki Briggs led the squad with three first place showings. Briggs, a freshman from Jupiter, FL, competed in six individual events and placed in the top-5 in each one. She crossed the line first in the 100-meter low hurdles (13.99) and won the long jump and javelin throw with distances of 17'9" and 32.27 meters, respectively. Daquia McCoy, Courtney Barge and Nina Panebianco also won their events. McCoy finished .01 seconds a head of Sallie Green for first place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.42. Barge placed in the high jump (5'4") and Panebianco in the shot put (9.49 meters).
Five members of the men's cross country team also participated in the meet. Greg Burke was the highest finisher with a time of 4:17.89, good enough for second place.
