Women's Track Competes at Hurricane Invitational

Final Stats

CORAL GABLES, FL - Florida Atlantic University's women's track and field team competed at the Hurricane Invitational Saturday in Coral Gables, FL. Individually, the Lady Owls had four top-ten finishes.

In the long jump, Courtney Barge finished fifth with a jump of 5.92 meters. Barge placed sixth in the triple jump with a leap of 11.27 meters.

Daquia McCoy finished fourth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.06. McCoy also finished ninth in the 200-meter dash with a 25.05.

Vicki Briggs placed 8th in the 100-meter hurdles while Danielle Weiss was fifth in the 3000-meter steeplechase.

In other action, Helenor Wilson was 14th in the 800-meter run (2:23.83) while Raynell Hagberg finished 18th in the same event (2:26.49). Hagberg also finished 13th in the 1,500-meter run (4:59.62).

As a team, FAU placed sixth in the 4x100-meter realy with a time of 47.28.

Several members of the men's cross cross country team compted in the event. Greg Burke ran the 800 and 1500 and finished with times of 4:18.40 and 2:00.90, respectively. Joe Cacciola and Jesse Chafin competed in the 5K. They earned 12th and 13th place with times of 18:00.02 and 18:13.02.

The Lady Owls next compete at the FIU Invitational March 23 in Miami.
